Texas Biometric Identifiers (CUBI)
Section 503.001 restricts capture of an individual's statutory biometric identifier for a commercial purpose without prior notice and consent. It separately regulates disclosure, protection, and destruction of identifiers possessed after commercial capture. AI-related exceptions in subsection (e) and later commercial use under subsection (f) require separate analysis. The Attorney General may seek a civil penalty of up to $25,000 per violation.
